Folding Paper Effect

In this tutorial I will teach you how to create a folding paper effect.

Make sure you have two layers one with the image you have taken and your background layer. Change the background layer color to #c0c0c0.




Step 1-

Select whole of the image by pressing the shortcut i.e. ctrl + A.

Step 2-

Click on the Polygonal Lasso Tool folder and select subtract from selection option.

Subtract from your selection using the polygonal lasso tool as shown.

Then

Now click on Delete

Step 3-

Now Right Click on the selection and select Transform Selection and then place it like this.

Step 4-

At this point your selection should look like the image on the right. Create a new layer, Click on the Gradient Tool usually hiding behind the paint bucket tool and apply the setting below.

Step 5-

Apply the gradient from top going down to the point of your selection as shown in the image below. The

Step 6-

Still on the same layer and with your selection still selected click on the Elliptical Marquee Tool select subtract from selection option and subtract from your selection to get the curve as shown below.

Step 7-

Still on the same layer we need to create another curve on the left hand side of the paper. Click on the Elliptical Marquee Tool select the subtract from selection option and subtract from the selection shown below.

Then again click on Delete

Step 8-

Now right click on the fold layer, click Blending Options, and add the setting below.

Click on OK.
And you are finished.
